Get Ready for Hunting Season!

Fall is in the air, and hunting season is right around the corner! If your youth is 11 or older, they’ll need a certified firearms safety course before heading into the field. These courses fill up fast, so here’s a last-minute chance to get your child certified in time for the MN Firearms Deer Opener.

Before Field Day:
Students must complete their online course beforehand. Info and registration here: Minnesota Hunter Education: Regulations & Laws | HUNTERcourse.com

What to Bring:

  • A copy of the student’s birth certificate

  • A copy of your field day voucher from the online MN DNR course

  • An unloaded .22 rifle (if you don’t have one, we’ll provide one)

  • Optional: 12 or 20 gauge shotgun for trap shooting (do not bring ammunition—this will be provided)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing & hiking boots recommended (no open-toed shoes)

Parent/Guardian Attendance:
Parents/guardians should plan to stay for approximately the first hour or at least until 30 minutes after “The Last Shot” video.

Arrival Instructions:

  • Leave all firearms in your vehicle.

  • Parent/guardian checks in with instructors and completes paperwork.

  • Instructors will guide students on safe firearm handling throughout the day.

  • Food note: Please let us know of any food allergies since we are providing a pizza lunch.
