NORTH DAKOTA KAYAKING ADVENTURE

JUNE 7TH,  2025  @ 10:30AM

SULLY CREEK STATE PARK, 1465 36TH ST. MEDORA, ND | ND MEDORA FLOAT

TOTAL COST: $150.00 DOUBLE or $80.00 SINGLE  (THIS IS NON REFUNDABLE)

AGE REQUIREMENT: ANY AGE IS WELCOME

ARE PARENTS/GUARDIANS REQUIRED TO ATTEND: YES! We have made some adjustments to allow for more flexibility, especially for families with multiple children. For example, in a situation where one parent has two children, we now offer the option for one adult and one child to share a tandem kayak, while the second child (only if they have prior kayaking experience) can paddle a single kayak independently.

Join Little Wilderness as we embark on our first North Dakota adventure! A kayak trip down the Little Missouri River is a great way to experience the solitude and beauty of the North Dakota Badlands. This river is a key feature of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. You can expect to see a variety of plants and animals as we paddle downstream!

There is no required one-to-one parent-to-youth ratio. However, any youth paddling in a single kayak must have previous kayaking experience and feel confident on the water. Safety is our top priority, and we want to make sure every participant is both comfortable and capable in their chosen setup. If you have questions about what configuration might work best for your family, feel free to reach out!

We will be meeting near the town of Medora at Sully Creek State Park at 10:30am and plan to be on the water ready to go at 11:00am. We will get acquainted with our group, guide, and Little Wilderness coordinator to start our kayaking adventure.  On this trip we will be using tandem kayaks (one adult and one child), these kayaks are made for two people, and even have room for your stuff. We will work our way about 3 miles down the Little Missouri River to the Medora Bridge where we will exit. River water levels are usually fairly shallow, but floatable. There will be opportunities along the way to get out, stretch, and have a snack on sandbars. Kayak, paddle, and life jackets are included on this trip. We will provide a packing list following your reservation of other items to bring.

After being picked up and shuttled back to our starting spot, we will head into Medora and let the kids enjoy the Children’s Park while us adults rest! This park is a western theme complete with western looking equipment like a stagecoach and train engine. We will then wrap up our day with a meal together at Boots Bar and Grill. We have reserved the party room for our group from 5-7:00pm. The cost of your meal is not included.

If you are traveling a distance or plan to make a weekend of the Medora area a block of 12 rooms has been reserved at AmericInn by Wyndham Medora, under Little Wilderness. They have a pool, hot tub, and continental breakfast. (*This is not included in your trip cost-must purchase and reserve on your own*). This block or rooms is held only until May 7th.

If you do plan to stay we can provide a list of other things to do in the area, for example the Medora Musical is free this weekend.
