Join Little Wilderness for our first-ever mentored youth coyote hunt, where participants will experience the excitement of nighttime predator hunting while learning about the important role responsible hunters can play in wildlife and predator management.

Coyotes are Minnesota’s most abundant large predator and are classified as an unprotected animal in the state. They are highly adaptable and prey on a wide variety of wildlife, from small mammals to larger animals, and can also impact livestock. Learning how predators interact with their environment—and how responsible hunting can be one tool used in wildlife management—is an important part of becoming a knowledgeable outdoorsperson.

This experience is about more than the hunt. It’s about education, safety, conservation, and understanding our role as stewards of Minnesota’s outdoors.

What to Expect

We’ll begin with an informational and educational meeting where youth will:

● Meet their hunting guide

● Learn about the firearm and equipment being used

● Learn how electronic calls are used to attract coyotes

● Discuss nighttime hunting strategies and expectations

● Review firearm and field safety

● Learn what happens after a coyote is harvested, including hide care

● Ask questions and get comfortable with their guide and equipment

After the educational session, we’ll head into the field after dark with our guides to put what we’ve learned into practice.

REGISTRATION FEE + REFUND PROCESS

The cost to register is $150 per youth, due at registration to reserve and hold your child’s spot.

This registration fee helps ensure that participants are serious about attending and helps eliminate the possibility of a no-call, no-show. Space is limited, so registration represents a commitment to participate in the full event.

Once your child attends the event, the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association is graciously refunding the $150 registration fee as a thank-you for participating in predator management and supporting this important conservation effort.
